Security and Environment Training

Well trained and competent staff show cost-benefits including better work based performance, improved safety and reduced waste.

STORM-G believes that training should be in synergy with the business objectives and therefore designs bespoke training packages to meet our client’s needs. We can draw from existing training materials to reduce time and cost, and all courses will be developed to ensure that training has optimum impact and reduces any operational downtime.

Training packages can be designed around one or more of the following topics:


Explosive hazard risk awareness:

  • Explosive hazard risk awareness aimed at employees working in close proximity to potential hazards.
  • Explosive hazard risk management aimed at those responsible for the management of activities and resources that may be affected by explosives risk.

Strategic, Technical Operations and Risk Management:

STORM-G works closely with national bodies at all levels, developing packages to meet strategic, operational and field level activities. Courses include:

  • Strategic management- defining longer term strategies, problem statement, organisational structures, business planning.
  • Operational Planning and Management- priority planning, task planning, resource management, managing safety, achieving operational efficiencies, effective operations, managing performance.
  • Quality Management- policies and standards, principles and aims of Quality Management in clearance operations, utilising quality data to improve operations.
  • Task Management- planning the task, application of assets and resources, managing multiple resources, concurrent activity and sequencing.

Explosive Ordnance Disposal Training.

The EOD course is conducted to achieve IMAS and CEN standards.

  • EOD Level  - III

Additional specialist courses can be provided to increase staff competence to level four. Additional courses could be developed to meet clients specific requirements such as Counter IED.

Working and Living in Insecure Environments

This course is designed for those working in hostile and volatile environments. It can be tailored to specific types of environment, and will focus on:

  • Risk management, gathering information and analysis, avoidance and mitigation.
  • Security planning of static locations and in transport.
  • Managing staff and resource safety.
  • Working with local military and militias. 
  • How to act during confrontation and conflict.

Hostile Environment Skills Training

Too many staff are deployed who do not have the basic training to operate in the environments they find themselves. The hostile environment skills  packages are aimed at people from all backgrounds who are expected to work in rural and remote environments. STORM-G can provide courses in the following:

  • Preparing for overseas deployments: how to research the destination, personal equipment, travel preparation, packing, staying in touch, staying healthy, information and documentation.
  • Navigation methods: including the use of compass, GPS and natural means, map reading and basic cartography, location identification and route planning. 
  • Communication: the use of VHF, HF and Satellite Communications, recognition of the different systems, operations and limitations, radio voice procedures and communication techniques. This module can be extended to include individual equipment types, sending data and equipment installation and set-up.
  • First Aid and Medical:  airway management, bleeding, breaks and burns, recovering a casualty, casualty stabilisation and management, CPR, bandaging, splinting and life support.
